About Us

"While we try to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is all about."
— Angela Schwindt

We’re a licensed home daycare in Warren Township, proudly serving families for over 18 years. As both parents and caregivers, we understand how emotional it can be to leave your child in someone else’s care. That’s why our mission is simple: to create a space where your child is truly known, nurtured, and excited to learn.

At A Village Childcare, we blend the warmth of a family environment with the structure of a school-readiness program. Our days are filled with hands-on learning, meaningful routines, and loving relationships that help children thrive.

Our Philosophy

We believe young children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and inspired by the world around them. That’s why we offer both child-led, play-based experiences and intentional, teacher-guided activities — giving each child the space to grow at their own pace.

We don’t just prepare children for kindergarten. We build the foundation for lifelong learning, confidence, and connection.

Our Goals

  • Provide dependable, high-quality childcare that feels like an extension of your family

  • Create a nurturing environment for social, cognitive, and physical development

  • Plan engaging learning experiences tailored to each child’s stage

  • Support independence by encouraging children to explore and problem-solve

  • Spark a lifelong love of learning through play, curiosity, and real relationships

Shelly Hall, Owner & Lead Caregiver

With over 22 years of hands-on experience in early childhood care, Shelly leads A Village Childcare with a gentle, relationship-based approach. Infants and toddlers are her specialty, and her philosophy is simple: children thrive when they know their needs will be met with love, consistency, and respect.

She holds two Bachelor of Science degrees—in Business Management and Business Administration—as well as the nationally recognized CDA credential. Shelly is also trained in effective child assessments and completes 10–15 hours of continuing education in early childhood development each year.

Parents often say they feel immediately at ease knowing that Shelly understands what it’s like to drop off your baby for the first time. Her open-door policy (and open-text policy) makes those early weeks feel a little less scary.

“I love the early years—infants and toddlers grow so fast, and every milestone is a celebration. You’ll find me on the floor playing, chatting with babies, and helping every child feel safe, known, and ready to grow.”

Nicole Sweet, Full-Time Infant & Toddler Teacher

Nicole brings over 33 years of early childhood experience, including decades spent working with children of all abilities in center-based programs. She and Shelly actually began their careers together in the early ’90s—and now, full circle, they’re back together at A Village Childcare.

Nicole has a calm, steady presence that instantly puts families (and babies) at ease. She’s especially skilled at supporting children who need extra patience and care, and she builds strong bonds quickly.

Families describe Nicole as having “true grandma energy”—gentle, loving, and always in control without raising her voice. She brings joy and wisdom to every part of the day.

Olivia Hall, Part-Time Assistant & Future Art Therapist

Olivia has been part of A Village Childcare since before she could walk—and now, she’s pursuing her dream of becoming an art therapist at Indiana University Indianapolis. She helps out between college classes, and the littles love her warmth, creativity, and easygoing spirit.

She’s also been known to use a few of her “tiny test subjects” to practice gentle mindfulness activities, emotion art, and toddler-friendly creativity sessions. (Don’t worry—only the washable paint.)

“Olivia has a special heart for babies, and they flock to her like a favorite big sister.”
